This Blog Has Moved!

I moved my blog on New Years Day, 2010. If you haven't come to see my new blog, head on over HERE now. This blog will be available for archive reading but I won't be posting here anymore. I hope you'll join me at my new bloggy home!

p.s. I am slowly but surely moving all the blogs I follow over to the new blog, so if I haven't come to visit you for a while, my advice is to leave a comment on my new blog, so I don't miss you in the shuffle!

About Me

My photo
I am a bereaved mother and wife. I began this blog to help me look for the "good things" in life after my daughter, "Babybear", died in July 2005. Three years later, her daddy, my husband, "Bear", died in November 2008. (You'll find a link to their stories on my blog) And now, as difficult as it is, I continue to look for the good things in my life as I learn my new normal with my pup, "Furrybear", at my side. And the angels on my shoulder...

Friday Funny (and a Not-So-Funny Request!)

So, tomorrow is the last Farmer's Market of the season. I am hoping to go and get a ton of squash and a few other things.

I want to do a little freezer meal planning so I can get away with no cooking for a while. I am therefore asking all of YOU for your favorite freezer meal recipes and/or tips.

I have been searching online and I've found a few recipes that look good but I'm interested to hear what are your tried-and-true recipes.

I am also looking for "quick" meal ideas as well. Since it is just me now ( :( ) I just don't feel up to cooking alot but being a foodie means I can't bring myself to eat crapola (aka processed food). I find myself just going without (thereby starving) than giving in to anything less than good, in my opinion.

So if you have any tried-and-true recipes to share, please provide the recipes or links to the recipes in the comments below. (I do not yet have a slow cooker, so for now, no slow cooker recipes, please. If and when I get one, I'll put in another request!)

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with. Thanks in advance!

Friday Fragments: Just One More Week!

Welcome to Friday Fragments!

**********
Man, I was wondering why no one commented on this today... it turns out I forgot to change the date to show up in today's posts... oops.

**********

I finally, finally, FINALLY finished the project I talked about HERE. I may have to wait a little longer to share it with you because some of my occasional readers (who NEVER COMMENT, HELLO!?!) may be one of the recipients of said project. But I can tell you this: the people who ordered them loved how they turned out. At least that,s what they tell me. For all I know they went home and threw it all in the garbage. lol ;)

**********

I'm really excited and nervous! In just one week, I'm hopping on a plane and flying OUTTA HERE! Granted, it's only for less than 3 days and I've spent all this money I don't have to pay for the plane ticket... but I'm going!

Where, you ask? I'm heading to St. Louis, MO for the SHARE Walk to Remember. I've decided to go because I have the time, and they changed the date for this year, so I have the opportunity. Plus, above all, I really need some in-real-life hugs from my SHARE SISTAS! I don't know if I have any bloggy friends who live in that area... but if I do, send me an email!

**********

The only not-so-great thing is that I'm still not sure exactly who's taking care of Emma while I'm gone. My neighbor has offered to let her out to potty and feed her but she'll be stuck here alone almost all weekend otherwise. But, that's better than nothing, I guess! She spent alot of time alone like that when her daddy was in the hospital last year, but I came home most nights. I guess the thing that worries me about leaving her alone is that she's been going nuts at the cats that have taken up residence in our neighborhood.

**********

I'm feeling a bit like I'm running full speed but in slow motion! In truth, I'm sitting on my wide behind. Not much is getting accomplished and I'm feeling bad about that.

**********

How long does a baby have to live in order to be considered alive? I read THIS POST about a very special little boy who was considered stillborn even though he lived and breathed for 2 full minutes. His mom has started a petition to change the law in her state, so please go check it out.

**********

If you are an angel mommy to a baby lost in pregnancy or as an infant, Patches the Bear would like to come visit you. Sign up HERE!

**********

As I lit the candles for last night's Wave of Light, I asked for a sign. Immediately, the candles began to flicker and my puppy came over all curious. Then the phone rang. (I didn't answer it) I don't know if it was a sign or what. After that I went and laid down on the bed and my pup and I cuddled as we watched the lights flicker. It was nice. Sad, but nice.

**********

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Friday Fragments: Thanks, I Guess.

Welcome to Friday Fragments.

**********

As you know, this past Saturday was our local Walk to Remember. As I am on the committee, I was super busy last week getting everything ready for the event. I barely made it home after the walk was finished before I had a huge crashburn. I slept and lazed around most of the rest of the weekend, and I have yet to regain my energy!

**********

I don't know what to subtitle my Friday Fragments anymore!

**********

I'm now atwitter on Twitter!
Find me @waaoms or see my updates on the sidebar of my blog.

If you are a twit, have you any advice?!

**********

This week I discovered that there is a new version of Let's Make A Deal with Wayne Brady as the host. Now, the original Let's Make A Deal was well before my time, so I have never watched it. Only heard about it. It's fun! (Plus Wayne Brady is not too hard on the eyes either!)

**********

ETSY SHOP OWNERS: Have your products reviewed on my blog. Please email me for further information. You must be willing to ship your products to Canada for me to review.

**********

Last week, I noticed my brakes were making all kinds of noise. Groannnnnn... Screeeeecchhhh. I took the car in and turns out my brakes were "metal-to-metal", and in all, it cost me 900 dollars to get my oil changed and my brakes fixed. Yowza! 200 of that was just for "inspection and labor" and another 100 of that was for taxes!

**********

I need a job.... but I can't bring myself to look for one...

**********

I keep going back and forth about my trip later this month. I know I can't really afford it (especially after those brakes!) But it may very well be my only chance to go. I haven't bought a plane ticket yet... better get to that this weekend if I'm going to go. And find someone to take care of my dog. (on the upside, my hotel room is booked)

**********

Speaking of trips, Patches the Bear will be on his way sometime this week. He's a little behind schedule but he's heading out. Next week one day I will post a Mr. Linky for all of you who would like to take part of this and have a visit with Patches.

**********

**********

This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving. *sigh* It's hard to know what to be thankful for.

**********
Here's a photo of our last Thanksgiving at home (2007)

I originally posted this photo HERE.

**********

One year ago this week, my husband ended up in the hospital for what turned out to be the rest of his life.

*********

10 years ago this week, my husband and I started (unofficially) dating. I say unofficially because we were "just friends" and didn't admit, even to ourselves, that we were becoming anything more. I remember exactly when because my friend had a baby that week and I went "home" for Thanksgiving early so I could meet the baby. After I left the hospital, I didn't feel like going to my mom's house so I went to see my friend who I hadn't seen in a long time, who later became my husband.

**********

And did I mention my daughter was due in October?

**********

I miss my family.

**********

Apparently, I'm Weird.

**********

It's cold here. I think we had exactly 3 days of summer this year. So much for Global "warming". It's supposed to snow this weekend.

**********

I'm still accepting questions for my most recent segment of Ask Me. So, don't be shy. Ask me!

************

I'm still working on the project I showed you teased you about HERE. Hopefully, I'll get it done this weekend. I'm anxious to show you what it is!

**********

Well, hope you all have a great weekend. But first, check out the Friday Funny below:

I want this:

**********

I've been busy with planning our local Walk to Remember which is on October 3rd. And that project I mentioned teased you about in this post.

Also I've been attempting to get my house back in some kind of order. Fail.

Friday Fragments: how ice cream can be depressing

Welcome to Friday Fragments!

**********
I'm on season 6!

**********

I got my Stampin' Up! order this week. I'm so excited!

**********

There seems to be an invasion of cats in my neighborhood these days. Emma, being the good watch dog that she is, growls at each and every single one of them.

**********

This week, October 15th (Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day) became official in my province. And I was there to witness the proceedings as the Bill was passed. It was certainly bittersweet.

**********

**********

Our Walk to Remember is in just a couple weeks! Better get cracking on getting everything ready.

**********

I had my very favorite gelati this week for the first time in forEVER. Since I wrote this post. I got the same flavors you see there.

**********

In reading that post, I realize it was written just a few days before we found out my husband's cancer was back. He had worked an extra shift on Sunday (even though he was in alot of pain) and took the car which he normally didn't during the rest of the week) and stopped to pick some up on his way home. *sigh*

**********

I'm really missing my family.

**********

Well, this edition of Friday Fragments has come depressing. Let's move on to the Friday Funny:

Friday Fragments: Ow! My Aching Back Hip!

Welcome to Friday Fragments....

**********
Never Forget:

**********

Friday Fragments are a little late this week... It's hard to come up with things to say!

**********

I had a bloggy idea that might be fun... going to think about how I can get this to work and then later I will tell you all about it. So keep an eye out...!

**********

I still haven't regained my energy since coming back home.

**********

It's raining again. Surprise, Surprise.

**********

My brother just moved to the same city as me. Across town, so we won't annoy each other too much.

**********

My doctor's appointment regarding my hip pain didn't amount to much - just more appointments.

**********

I was supposed to start school this week. I'm kind of sad and kind of glad that it didn't work out this year.

**********

I would like to focus more on my health issues and such but everything seems to be taking way longer than it should.

**********

I guess I better try and find a job.

**********

The next few weeks will be busy getting our local Walk to Remember organized. It's being held on October 3rd!

**********

Friday Fragments: Sleepy

Welcome to another edition of Friday Fragments.

**********

After a busy week last week, with a funeral and a wedding to attend and lots of driving, I've been so POOPED this week. It's difficult to muster up some energy!

**********

I had to take Emma to the funeral with me. I didn't have time to drop her off anywhere! It was a graveside funeral, so I was able to see her from the gravesite the whole time. I left her in the car with the windows rolled part way down. She cried the whole time! Tried to get out through the window, but couldn't get more than her head and paw out. When I looked back at the car, I nearly burst out laughing because she looked so silly. Oh, that doggie, she makes me smile in the worst of times.

**********

The gravesite was atop a hill with a beautiful view of the lake below (the same lake my brother got married just a few days later!) .

**********

As promised, I am embarrassing myself by showing you a photo of me in the dress at the wedding. (It's the only photo I have of myself - I stayed behind the camera for the most part - not sure if anyone else got a photo of me but let's hope not.)

Please ignore the fatty fat.

(You could click the picture to make it bigger, but I don't recommend it)

(It looked better on the hanger, don't you think?)

(and omg, I look like my mother. eeek! that's really scary!)

**********
I made my very first Stampin' Up! order this week! Very exciting! A bit expensive, but I gave in because I couldn't find any similar supplies anywhere!

I ordered this

and this

I bought them because I've been "hired" to do a project which I'll tell you about at a later date!

**********

A few weeks ago I bought a hand-held blender at a yardsale for $2. It looked like it had never been taken out of the box! It came with a mixing cup with a lid and a stand to hang the blender up on the wall. Pretty good for $2, eh?

The best part is it works better than my full size blender! I say this because I made a smoothie and it crushed my partly frozen strawberries with ease, whereas with my full size blender, they always got stuck and barely crushed at all! I also made some salad dressing with it and mixed some homemade soup instead of putting it in the food processor (which I also love). It's going to be a real handy gadget to have!

**********

September's Follower of the Month will be featured tomorrow! (September already!)

Be sure to come by and check out the interview!

**********

Let me know if you want me to feature your blog button on my sidebar!

Friday Fragments: Friday Again?!

Welcome to Friday Fragments!

**********

I can't believe it's Friday already! This week seemed to fly by (and yet, it felt like one very, very long day!)

*********

Rain Rain Rain.
That's all it did this week.
oh, and Rained some more!
(we even had a tornado warning!)

**********

The rain is making me ache all over.

**********

Remember this post?

I went to buy one that week at Canadian Tire.
They were all sold out, so I put a rain check on it.
But when I called to see if they were in stock yet, I was told they weren't yet there.
Then I asked if I can reserve specific color. They told me they only get them in white.
I decided I did not really want a white one. So much to my disappointment, I waited.
I kicked myself for not going to the other stores that had it on sale. Maybe they had it in other colors.
But the Friday before my daughter's birthday (and our anniversary) it went on sale at
Zellers.
For an even better deal than before!
So I went, and they had it in black. I bought it!
I love it!
I've used it a few times already.
Totally worth the wait!

**********

Thank you to everyone who answered the poll in this post.
I made my next batch of apple muffins without peeling the
crabapples.
It turned out just fine! (but it still took FOR-EV-ER to chop up 3 cups worth of apples for the recipe!)
I also made some Pork Juice. My friend Alli's recipe! Go bug her if you want the recipe.
I just wanted to use up the 4 litre bucket of apples before it all went bad!
I still have half a bucket to use! (started with two full 4 litre ice cream buckets full of
crabapples. Made 3 dozen apple muffins, and the pork juice.)
There's still TONS of apples on the tree... but too rainy to go pluck them off. I hope I can get some more off before they fall and rot on the ground (which will just mean extra raking and
puh-lease, I have enough to do)

**********

Notice the scrolling Blog Roll on my sidebar?
It looks like this:

If you would like your blog button to be added to it, just let me know!
And if you would like to make one on your own blog, here's the tutorial! It's really simple!

**********

We all know that the Pink Ribbon signifies Breast Cancer, but what color ribbon is for cancer in general? I ask because, as you know, my husband had cancer. So, I'm just curious.

This one is the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Ribbon:

**********

If you've been reading my other blog, then you know that both my Father-In-Law and my
Gramma-In-Law are very sick. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I will post updates on that blog as they come.

edit: my father-in-law died this morning.

**********

This week will be a busy one as I prepare to go out of town for my brother's wedding next weekend, and trying to play catch up around my house.

**********

I'm really disappointed about Photography School not working out. I didn't think I was really wanting to go but now that I can't, I feel bummed out about it. (I know they asked me to come next year but next year seems so far away. It takes alot of effort to look ahead to tomorrow, let alone a year away from now.)

Not sure what to do with myself. I know I need to look for a job but I just... don't feel like it. I begin to hyperventalate anytime I think about it. Ugh!

**********

And did I mention, it's been raining?
Every day this week?
And it shows no signs of stopping?!

**********

Crazy lightening storms last night kept me awake way past my usual late night. Have been a few storms lately. Here's one photo I took from the local news website:

I had grabbed my camera to try and get a couple photos but I was too chicken to get too close to the window, let alone outside!

**********

I'm now on Season 5 of 24!

**********

Now, I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life since the photography school option did not work out.

**********

Random thought: I'm h u n g r y.

(maybe I wouldn't be if I ate, but I don't know what to eat.)

Friday Fragments: Bears and Bees

**********
I won this book!

Thanks, Pam! I look forward to getting it and reading it!

**********

Found money is the best!

In the process of getting my recycling put together to take to the curb, I noticed on the front page of the Future Shop flyer that it said "Free Shipping on any online purchases over $39. Offer not valid on TVs 40" or larger and major appliances. July Only."

So I took my receipt for the purchase of my new television (37") down to the store and asked if I qualified for this Free Shipping. Wasn't sure because it was an online-only sale. Figured it doesn't hurt to ask. And guess what?! They refunded me the 50 dollars plus tax for the shipping.

Moral of the story? Always ask, you never know!

**********

I'm getting anxious about my brother's upcoming wedding in a few weeks. It'll be my first time going to a wedding or any family gathering without my husband. I always knew his wedding would be difficult because my daughter wouldn't be there to be a flower girl, but I thought at least I'd have my husband there to hold my hand through it. I hope I don't loose nerve to go, especially since it's out of town. If it were in town, it'd be easy to go and slip away if need be. I don't know what to do, and have posted more on this topic on my other blog.

**********

And speaking of the aforementioned wedding, I need some gift ideas. I had an idea but it doesn't appear it will work out. I want to make something nice. Any SIMPLE and unique ideas?

Also for baby gift ideas, because, again, the baby gifts I started to make for a couple people aren't panning out the way I had hoped!

Please email me your ideas because gift recipients sometimes read my blog!

**********

I've already been to the gym more times in August so far than in all of July. Go me! Hope I can continue.

**********

PHOTOGRAPHY SCHOOL UPDATE: I am still way behind on this. I still need to get my student loans applied for. Had so much trouble getting it even started. Hopefully, it will be all done by the weekend so the process can be completed. I also need to deal with getting interpreter and sorting out how that will work. July was just a difficult month with being sick, a computer crash and of course all the bad days (my daughter's angel day/birthday, our wedding anniversary- first without Bear and all the other dates leading up to those days, last ultrasound, etc.) that I didn't achieve much and quite frankly, didn't attempt much either, and so am now way behind.

**********

Now, whether or not I go back to school in September, I am in need of finding myself a routine that works. My previous routine was faulty at best, and basically crumbled away with my husband's illness and since. I would love to hear more about your routines. What works for you? I will probably do a full post on this next week. I look forward to your comments about this.

**********

And if I don't go back to school in September, I'll have to start looking for a new job. I'm very nervous about this idea. I don't know why. It literally puts me in a panic some days and then I just can't do anything else. In the main time though, I hope to make a few bucks here and there with my notebooks. I know it's not going to make much of a difference but it's a start.

**********

I love getting fresh veggies from the farmer's market! Everything just tastes so much better. I wish we could get it year round!

Friday Fragments: Another Rambling Post

Welcome back to Friday Fragments!

**********

THANK YOUs:

I got this beautiful angel in the mail the other day.

I don't know who it's from.... but THANK YOU to who ever sent it!
(They sent it via Angels For Hope)

Also, Thank you to YaYa for this postcard!

And to my neighbor for this!

(aren't they adorable? read more about them here.)

**********

Where did summer go?

It's been so cold the last couple days. I've had to wear sweaters and fuzzy socks. I refuse to turn the heat on in July. On the upside, the forecast is looking good.

**********

Not Looking Forward To Next Week.

My daughter's 4th angel day and birthday, followed by our 6th wedding anniversary. Usually, we have a BBQ & Balloon Release to 'celebrate' both occasions but no one showed up last year, and this year it won't even be just me and Bear, so I didn't plan one because I don't think I could handle the disappointment.

**********

Pain in the Neck, er, Head.

Yesterday, I suffered the first migraine in 4 years. That was no fun.

**********

Where's My Curves?

I'm thinking of quitting the gym. Not because I don't want to go, but because it's closed whenever I have the opportunity and motivation at the same time. This summer they have decided to close between 1 and 3 pm M-F and they close for the day by 1 pm on the weekend. Early afternoons would be the best time for me to go right now while I'm not working since I have trouble falling asleep at night and as a result do not wake up too early in the morning. I can't really afford to keep paying for it if I'm not going very often.

**********

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Start it off with a funny...

This is either really funny or an overload of cuteness! Either way, it brought a smile to my face!

**********

Vickie photo tagged me. The rule was to go to your 1st folder in your photos and then pick the 10th photo. I decided to change it up a little. I went to my 2006 file (the year I got my digital camera) and the first file there was my 2006favorites. The 10th photo in that file was this one:

I had put it in my favorites because I learned how to make the B&W with color directly on my camera and was pretty proud of myself. Of course, I haven't done that since! The bear was my first Mother's Day gift from my daughter/her daddy. *sigh*

**********

Have you seen the show "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" ? I watched it last summer and it was so funny. It's on again now! Unfortunately at the same time as "So You Think You Can Dance" but that's what VCR's are for! (yes, I'm old school!)

Here's a clip of a commercial for "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" advertising this season's premiere which was on Wednesday. If you haven't watched the show, you should. It will have you LOL-ing!

**********

I did it ! I did it! (What did I do? Read Here to find out!) Yes, I know it's hardly anything to be excited about about but it's a big step for me. I also did this!

**********

I forgot to keep track of how many walks and gym time this week. I think 2 times at the gym and 3 times walk.

**********

Have a great weekend everyone!
