When Emily from Stepping Stones posted about the Word of the Year, I thought it might be a good idea to give it a try.
If I could sum up 2008 in one word, I would choose the word "Pain". Not only my own pain from heartbreak, but the pain my husband endured with 3 surgeries, the pain of cancer, the pain of helplessness. It was painful to watch him slowly fade away, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. It was painful to watch him take his last breaths.
For 2009, I could choose the word "heal", but having been a bereaved mom for over three years, I know that healing is not quite the right word. Perhaps, then, the word is "Survive".
Yes, Survive.
I will survive in 2009.
What is your word of the year? Post it on Tip Junkie, and you could win a prize!
About Me
- Ter
- I am a bereaved mother and wife. I began this blog to help me look for the "good things" in life after my daughter, "Babybear", died in July 2005. Three years later, her daddy, my husband, "Bear", died in November 2008. (You'll find a link to their stories on my blog) And now, as difficult as it is, I continue to look for the good things in my life as I learn my new normal with my pup, "Furrybear", at my side. And the angels on my shoulder...

Excellent word. You will survive and more. ((HUGS))
This is a great word. May you survive 2009 and have some joy and happiness thrown in there as well!
{{{{HUGS}}}}}
I am stepping stones sister.. she has mentioned you before- you are in her thoughts and prayers... and then I found you through tip junkie.
I hope this year you do better than survive. Healing.. I hope you do find some peace- and keep that puppy close. (they are good at licking up salty tears.)
{{hugs}}
Once again...you INSPIRE!
Wow! You have quite the story. Your word is perfect! And hopefully, your word for 2010 can be Strength as you continue to move through your new normal. Thank you for stopping by my blog and bringing me to yours.
excellent word choice.
In the years to come I hope your word changes to peace, hope, healing, and ultimately to happiness once again.
Great word! That song "I Will Survive" comes to mind even if the subject matter is totally different. I know you will not only survive but make great strides in 2009. Best wishes to you, my friend! (((HUGS)))
