Recently, I had the thought that maybe I would turn my daughter's room into a craft space since she is my biggest inspiration and I have not another space in my house that could be used solely for crafting.
I was already planning to do this during the month of May when I saw that Org Junkie chose Kids Rooms for this month. It has been a difficult month, besides being emotionally draining to do the room, but also because I have been sick with not one, but two, nasty colds, and not to mention other things popping up that have had to take priority over the room. At last, I've finally got it to the point where I think I can share. There's more to do, but all in due time. I don't think I'll win the contest or anything, I may even be too late to officially enter, but it was good motivation anyway!
After I cleared out the room, I painted it in a color called "Grape Lavender". I just love the color and how the room just feels so much more...NOT like a storage space.
Inside the Room BEFORE:
Same View AFTER:(I got all these shelves at yardsales!)
Facing the other direction AFTER:
I started filling up the shelves with items for my memory box project:
I have more to do but I think it's off to a good start. I want to find a better table. The table that I have currently is actually a card table and it's too plush on top to really be good. So far I haven't had any luck finding a good table, so I'll do what I can with that one now. I am eventually going to put more shelves in the closet, or a closet organizer that can be kept in there permanently, to do some more organization. I have a few things to put on the walls, including that bulletin board that you see in the photo above. Hopefully I'll have all that done when the CRAFT ROOM challenge is here.
If you linked to me via the challenge, please come again soon to keep up to date on the progress of this room!

It looks so good. It will be good for you to have that space to do your crafts in. I love the color you painted the room. You have found some great things at yard sales.
Great job! Good idea to use the room to fill it with new memories.
That looks fabulous!
Yeah for frugality! I like how you are choosing to use the room as a place of inspiration and creativity.
Oh good for you Ter! I'm sure Tyla is thrilled that you are using her room to carry on her memory :) Way to go! It looks great..and I love the color :)
Can't wait to see before and afters of the closet :)

Wow! I love it! The color is so pretty and you have a lot of nice storage compartments! My husband would have a COW if any of our rooms looked like your "before" pics, LOL...not that a couple of ours aren't close but the clutter is slightly more boxed up ;-) Great job! Tyla would definitely approve! (((HUGS)))
So sorry for your loss. Glad you participated in the challenge and got a new craft room. Great job.
Ter, fabulous idea for this room. :) I love the wall color - so soothing and pretty. Great organization ideas. Looking forward to seeing more photos as you continue.
I really like the wall color! It is very much what I have been trying to picture for one of our bedrooms.
Great job getting all of that gone through and organized!
the room looks great, love the new shelves and room color.
Oh I can only imagine how difficult this room was for you to organize. You did a great job and I have to say I'm completely envious of your yard sale finds! I go garage saling every week looking for just those types of shelving. They are so versatile. They work wonderfully in closets too.
Well done!
What a change! I love the color, the shelving (AWESOME find, btw!!), the fantastic job you did organizing.. everything! I'm also very sorry for your loss. You've really honored her memory by this transformation.
Ter,
Your room turned out just lovely. I know it must not have been easy for you to do what you did. I think your idea for turning the room into a place where you can craft, create and be inspired by the memory of your little one, is very special. I am so glad that you won the contest! Thank you for visiting my blog. Blessings to you! :-)
It must have been so difficult to work on this room...yet it sounds like it has been a refreshment to you as well. It looks great!
Big ((hugs)) to you. What an emotional organizing task that must have been. I think it's a great way to put the space to use & honor your sweet girl at the same time.
