So, I risked my life to go see my littlest brother graduate from high school. I say 'risk my life' because I drove a nearly 3 hour trip on my own despite my tendency to get very sleepy while driving. Somehow, I managed to make it there without falling asleep! Emma came along for the ride and did wonderfully. She loves car rides! We stopped a couple times along the way, and one of those times was to visit a friend at her family's farm. But we did make it finally! It was my first time driving the entire distance by myself. Go, me!
We spent a few extra days there so I could visit some of my family and friends who still live there and even made an additional 45 minute drive (one way) to go see my mother-in-law. Yikes! I guess there's no excuse for me not going anywhere now (although, I did almost nod off on the way back from that measly 45 minute drive!)
Anyway! Just to make myself feel old, take a look at these photos! The first one is my littlest brother and myself on MY high school graduation day and the second one is us on HIS high school graduation day.
Isn't that sad? He got taller and I only got wider.
But yeah, pretty proud of the little-not-so-little guy.
Honestly, there isn't much to say about the trip, but it was nice to see some people I haven't seen for a while. I met two of my friend's babies who have been born since I've seen them last. I also met an online friend who quite coincidentally went to school with my husband and to further the coincidence, her mother now lives across the hall from my mother-in-law. I also paid an insane amount of money to get the negatives and proofs from the photographer who did my wedding photos. We had hoped to go swimming at the lake when we went to see my Mother-in-Law but Mother Nature decided to cool off and send down some rain that day. Boo! I was looking forward to finding out if Emma is a swimmer or not. If she is, she sure didn't get it from me, although, I do a mean doggie paddle!
I'm glad I went, but I was even more glad to get home despite the fact those darn cleaning fairies never came to clean my house while I was gone.
About Me
- Ter
- I am a bereaved mother and wife. I began this blog to help me look for the "good things" in life after my daughter, "Babybear", died in July 2005. Three years later, her daddy, my husband, "Bear", died in November 2008. (You'll find a link to their stories on my blog) And now, as difficult as it is, I continue to look for the good things in my life as I learn my new normal with my pup, "Furrybear", at my side. And the angels on my shoulder...

Those are great pictures!!
I HATE it when they don't come! those cleaning fairies need to know we NEED them!!
I'm glad you made it safe and sound!
Wow your brother is tall. I am sure he is glad you cam to his graduation.
Glad you took the trip and enjoyed so many visits with friends & family. Great photos. If you find those cleaning fairies, could you send one my way? ;)
What if you kept the window open. Maybe that might help keep you awake.
Your brother sure got tall!
Our dog is nuts in the car. She is constantly moving and trying to get in Jason's lap while he drives. I want to slip her a sleeping pill:)
Glad you are safe.
Congrats to your (not so little) brother! I'm glad that you had a nice trip (and stayed awake!)
Congratulations on this feat. I understand learning to do this for yourself, because my husband left me 2 1/2 years ago. I am still learning how to do things on my own. It doesn't get easier, but the rewards are great!!

The photos are wonderful! How special to have photos of the two of you together on your respective HS graduation days.
Awesome job with the driving too!
I wonder if there is a widespread cleaning fairy strike going on...
I am glad that you were able to go! I love the pictures!
Bravo! I'm glad you went too! I bet Emma had the most fun!
I love those pictures of you and your little bro. That looks like something my oldest daughter will be posting on her blog (if she ever take up blogging) about her and her littlest sister.
I'm sure your brother was very happy to see you go all that way for his graduation. I am sooo proud of you for making that trip all on your own.
Too bad about the rain though but I'm sure Emma had a great time. Glad you're able to see some of your friends and get to visit with your family.
And those darn cleaning fairies, they should be fired!! LOL
I'm glad you got home for a visit! You and your brother both look great (in both pics!!) :)
I'm glad you got some visiting in.
But I'm very glad you got your wedding proofs.
I am glad you went to your brothers grad. I know it was a large hurdle for you to jump. Good for you!!
I'm the same type of sleepy driver! Glad you made it there safe.
And I've gotten wider as I 've gotten older too so don't feel bad!
